The Daily Texture for 04/13/2015
Blooming Hyacinth Brushstrokes Texture
Today's Daily Texture is filled with luscious purple and lavender colors, along with a big splash of golden yellow. I know you're probably thinking because of the title, I would have paired this texture with a Hyacinth flower photo. Actually, since the colors were chosen based on a Hyacinth photo, that was my intent. But the photo I had wasn't to my liking with its composition. So I chose to pair the texture with this delicate Fuchsia flower, and I'm happy to say it worked perfectly! As usual, I masked away the background from the flower, revealing the texture underneath. Then I added a soft light layer on top to give the image a bit more "pop" with the color. I've had a number of people ask me why I mask away the background from the photo, rather than place the texture on top and mask it away. I'm going to address this below along with some examples. In the meantime.... |
If you Like This Texture, you can buy it here for only $2. Commercial Use OK.
P.S. I also shut off ALL layers and saved my hummingbird as a PNG file {which saves it with a transparent background}, in case I want to add him on top of another texture in the future. | I also used Today's Daily Texture to prepare this hummingbird image. Once again, I masked away the background from the hummingbird and branch, and I placed the texture under the photo layer. Then I duplicated the texture layer and placed it on top, setting it to multiply at about 20%. I duplicated the texture layer again and set this one to overlay at about 35% to finish out the image. At this point, I decided to see how my hummingbird would look with some of other textures. I selected the bottom texture layer, and shut it off. Then I added another texture as a new layer on top of that bottom one {beneath the hummingbird photo layer}. Because I had masked the background away from the hummingbird already, I didn't have to do any more masking and could simply drop in different textures UNDER him to see how they looked. I came up with several different variations which I've shown below, and it only took a minute to do each one! |
