The Daily Texture/Background for 05/02/2015
Vanilla Sunrise
Today's Daily Texture is actually a background you can use with photos you may have taken which may look better in a scene. For example, I was shooting some buffalo with my 500mm lens, so all of the shots were fairly close up and personal. However, some of the shots didn't work well as a close shot -- they would look better if in a full scene. This was one of those pictures. Using this background, I placed my original buffalo photo on top and sized him down to "fit" into this scene. Then I masked away the grass around him, leaving a little mixed with the background to give him a sense of place. Some of the grass around him was fairly green, so I toned down the saturation of the photo layer to make the colors blend better with this background. After masking, I duplicated the background texture layer and placed it on top, setting it to multiply at about 10%. Then I duplicated it again, and placed it on top, setting it to soft light at 25%. This made the bottom area under his feet darker, and it enhanced the light around the clouds. However, this soft light layer gave the image too much of a color boost, so I desaturated the color in that layer, leaving me with just the lighting effects, but not the excess color the layer created. |
