The Daily Texture for 05/03/2015
Today's Daily Texture is a neat abstract painting, featuring the colors of the sand and the sea. I used the same texture on both of the photos below, with very different results -- all due to the application. The eagle was photographed against a beautiful blue sky with no distractions, so for this image, I did no masking -- I simply placed the texture on top and set it to hard light, which gave a lot more interest to the background. I then masked some of the texture layer off of the bird's feathers. On the heron image, I masked the blue sky background out of the original photo, leaving just the heron on top of the texture, and then I added the texture on top as a new layer as well. For the first texture layer on top, I set it to multiply at about 20%. Then I duplicated the texture layer again, and set this one to hard light at about 20% to complete this image.
