The Daily Texture for 05/08/2015
Patriotic Moment
Today's Daily Texture was created in response to a special customer request. I decided to use this texture as the backdrop for a photo collage featuring photos I've taken in Shiloh, Tennessee at the military park where I go to photograph the eagles. It's easy when I'm so focused on the wonderful wildlife present in the park to forget why this park is there in the first place. Here's a bit of history from the park website: "Congress established Shiloh National Military Park on December 27, 1894 to commemorate the April 6-7, 1862 battle that raged around Shiloh Church and Pittsburg Landing. Producing more than 23,000 casualties, the battle was the largest engagement in the Mississippi Valley campaign during the Civil War." I hope this art will speak a little about the history of what is now a wonderful place to photograph our most majestic birds! {learn more about this park on their website here}
To create this image, I used the texture as a background and I layered each photo on top, setting each to hard light layer mode. Then I masked away the edges of the photos, leaving the most important parts blended in with the textured background.
