The Daily Texture/Background for 05/19/2015
Blue Dawn
Today's Daily Texture/Background is an abstract water scene filled with a glorious color combination of blues and reds. I used this one on both of the images below. Of course, it served as a perfect background for the eagle with a fish. The sky behind the eagle was white. I used Topaz remask to remove the white background from around the eagle, and placed the eagle on top of the textured background. Then I masked away some of the edges of the bird to blend the texture in with her feathers. I then duplicated the texture layer and placed it on top, setting it to overlay at about 50%. After merging all the layers, I then opened Topaz Lens Effects, where there is a filter I just love called "Reflector". This filter enables you to add gold or silver light to certain areas of your image, and I chose to add a gold reflector adjustment to the left side of the image to give it a nice glow.
I had another image from this week I could picture using this texture with. It was an image of two men fishing in a boat I took at Lake Graham. I placed their photo on top of the textured background and resized that photo layer down to make them fit within the background. Then I masked away all of the edges of their green background and even masked away some of them to bring the color of the texture into them and the boat. I de-noised that photo layer strongly, in order to attempt to reduce some of the sharp detail of the original photo and make them fit better with the painted background. That helped, but I still felt they had too much detail. So I opened the photo layer in Topaz Simplify, and chose the Pastel I filter. That removed all of their detail, just leaving the blocky shape of their figures. I thought it was a bit too much detail removal, so I adjusted the transparency of the Pastel I filter to be only 50%, which reduced their detail, yet still left enough detail to make them look right within the image. I then duplicated the texture layer and placed it on top, setting it to overlay at about 77% to pump up the colors and light a bit more.
