Create A Series Of Art Using Only One Texture
Manufacturers often look for work in groups of 2-4 images, and this is a quick and easy way to create work in a series to suit their needs. Using a variety of my sea shell photos, I created a collection of images with just one texture. The texture used here is "Luminous" and it features the glowing colors you would see at the beach and ocean. All of the shells were photographed outdoors in natural {overcast} light on a large piece of white watercolor paper. Using a white background makes it very easy to integrate a texture. No masking was done with these example photos shown here. For all of these, the texture was placed on top of the photo, and the texture layer was set to hard light at 100%. To give a little variety to the images, I flipped the texture on each and resized it, and also moved it around a bit. So, yes, each image has the same texture with the same layer mode and opacity, but due to moving the texture around and resizing, each one looks a little different. YET -- they all go together well.
You can also do this with scenes and subjects not photographed on a white background. The key is to make sure what you want to put into your series is all photographed at the same time in the same lighting, and that all the photos you choose have a similar color cast. Then choose your texture(s) to use with the images and find the right layer mode and opacity for the texture(s) when paired with image #1. Once you have image #1 looking like you wish, name and save your file -- but don't close it. Open your additional images for your series one at a time, placing each above image #1 in your layers panel. Tweak each one to your liking, and save each one as you finish.
