I know you all are probably wondering about yesterday's Daily Texture (3/15), and I'm not going to lie...the sun came out and the temperatures warmed up for the first time in a month...and I just felt the need to get outside! So I played hooky from The Daily Texture yesterday and refreshed my mind and soul by spending time in nature. Hopefully Today's Daily Texture will make up for it! :)
This texture is soft and loaded with a variety of spring color hues. It might not look like much in its pastel state, but if you want to boost the colors in it, you can certainly do so by using different layer modes, as I've done here in First Spring Bloom.
First, I placed the texture on top of the flower image and masked it off the flower, leaving some of the texture over the stem and petal edges. Then I duplicated that texture layer (with the masked off portion in place), and I set the duplicate layer mode to multiply at about 50%. That brought some richness into the textured part of the image. Then I took the original (unmasked) texture, and placed it on top over everything, setting that one to hard light layer mode. WOW...now it popped with color! I then merged everything and brightened the final image up just a little to finish it off.
