The Daily Texture for 07/01/2015
The Sensational Sea
Today's Daily Texture is loaded with vibrant colors from the sun and the sea. I love to use textures like this with my little brown birds from the garden. Colorful birds like Cardinals and Bluebirds and Goldfinches always stand out in nature, but the little brown birds sometimes don't get noticed as much due to their neutral coloring. By pairing this texture {which I've really made to use with some sea shell still life pieces I'm working on} with this little brown Pine Siskin songbird, I've given this bird his own beautiful stage on which to shine! First, I masked away almost all of the background, even some of the flowers. The original texture was under the bird photo while I did this masking. I felt the desire to boost the colors a bit, so I duplicated the original texture UNDER the bird layer, and set it to multiply at 30%. This gave more richness to the texture underneath. Then I duplicated the texture again, and placed it on top, setting it to soft light at 100%. This made the bird a bit too yellow, so I masked some of that layer off of the bird. Just for comparison, I thought you might want to see the original photo: | Like this texture? Buy it here for only $2. Commercial Use OK. |
