The Daily Texture for 02/12/2015
Lemon Melody
I just love bright, lemon yellow, so I decided to incorporate this color into Today's Daily Texture, along with some lovely hues of lavender, blue and pink. I used this texture to create the image below. I photographed some branches with flowers last year, which have bare spots on them for me to place a bird. First, I composited the little bluebird onto the branch, as seen in the first photo on the left below. Then I placed the texture layer on top, and set it to hard light at 100%. This allowed the photo to pick up the colors of the texture, as shown in the image on the right. Finally, I layered the texture on top again, this time leaving it set to normal mode, and I masked away the texture from the bird, part of the branch and masked some lightly off the flowers as well. I kept the texture fairly strong around the edges, to make the flowers look faded in gently, instead of having a harsh line where they are cut off by the frame in the original photo.

P.S. I've added a new slideshow page to the website, which features work shared with me by some of the artists and photographers who are using the Daily Textures in their creations. Please stop by and take a look at these beautiful works of art!
