The Daily Texture for 03/09/2015
Fiery Sky
I am curious to see what you guys can come up with using this texture. Let me give you a tip right off the bat: If you're going to use this to replace a background, be sure your original photo has WARM TONES, because if you try to blend this very warm texture with a cool toned photograph, it's not going to look right. Alternatively, you can use it in a different way with your cool toned photos with gray or white skies, by trying different layer modes as I did below. For the eagle photo, which was taken on a cloudy day {therefore the sky was virtually white}, I placed the bottom portion of the texture over the eagle. This positioned the lightest part of the texture near the front of his body and face. I changed the layer mode to multiply and masked some -- not much -- of the texture off the eagle. This turned my cool toned eagle photo into a warmer photo, and because the sky was white, using this layer mode virtually replaced the sky.
For the barn photo {which had a cloudy, gray sky}, I took a different approach. This time, I placed the barn photograph on TOP of the texture and moved it close to the bottom. Then I set the barn layer to HARD LIGHT, and masked away the sky and the trees beside and behind the barn, leaving only the barn. Also, I left a bit of the horizon line and foreground to ground it within the texture image. Like this texture? Buy it here for only $2. Commercial Use OK. |
