The Daily Texture for 03/27/2015
Coral Pink Skies
Today's Daily Texture is loaded with brilliant coral pink paired with soft blues for a wonderful combination. I felt extremely painterly today, and I made the two images below using "Coral Pink Skies". On both images, I left heavy layers of the texture right over the subjects in certain areas. See, the fun thing about using textures is breaking the rules. I don't follow "rules of photography" or "rules of painting" when using textures with my photos - I simply work on taking a photo and turning it into an artistic vision which suits me. :) The tulip magnolia flower had some harsh sunlight across the petals on the left. So...I brought the texture right on over those petals, leaving the middle and right side more exposed, but you can only see a hint of the petals on the left. It created a very abstract, painterly, artistic look. With the poodles, I not only masked out the distracting background, but I put the texture on top various times, in different layer modes and opacities. I also desaturated some of those layers so my poodles weren't so pink. :) And once again, I left the texture strongly over a couple of areas of the dogs to create the painterly look I was after for this piece.
