I know it's spring, but I already had this Autumn toned texture in progress from a while ago, so I decided to finish it up today and add some brushstrokes. :) I used Today's Daily Texture "Forest In Autumn" on the images below. On both images, I masked away the subject's backgrounds, including masking away some of the edges of the subjects themselves. The elephant faces were very bright, so by masking away some of them, it brought the tones of the texture right into their skin. The tusk on the one elephant was exceptionally bright white {blown out highlights}. I could have made a highlight adjustment to the original photo, but instead, I gently masked away some of the tusk itself, which brought in the darker tones of the texture to the tusk. Afterwards, I duplicated the texture layer and set it to overlay at about 70% to darken and enrich the image. Then I masked away some of the overlay layer from the faces of the elephants, to bring some of the brightness back. I did the same thing with the hawk, only I made his top layer soft light, once again at about 70% which seemed to be a magic number for this texture. I also masked some of that top layer off his face and chest to bring some of his brightness back.
